Lion Park

Last Sunday afternoon my husband and I decided to visit the Lion Park which is situated in the middle of Johannesburg not too far from where we currently reside.

According to the official website (www.lion-park.com), the Lion Park is known as an eco-tourism destination rather than a zoo because it focuses on the well-being and regeneration of animals particularly the wild-dog, the white lion and the cheetah.

Entrance fees are currently R240 per person for a self drive in your own car and an additional R30 if you wish to play with the lion cubs. There are also guided drives available at an additional cost.

The lions are usually fed on a Sunday and it was quite intriguing watching them tear at chunks of what could have been a cow or a buck.

Our Honeymoon (Part 2 - Mauritius)

Mauritius - Le Meridien Ile Maurice Resort

The second week of our honeymoon was spent in Mauritius.  We stayed at a superb resort called Le Meridien Ile Maurice (visit the website here      www.lemeridien-mauritius.com). The resort stands at the edge of 1000 metres of sparkling ivory sands on the North-West coast of Mauritius in the bay of Pointe Aux Piments.  Le Meridian Ile Maurice is also part of the Starwood hotels so if you are a Starwood Preferred Guests you can earn points which are redeemable.

There are various different rooms to choose from to book, and my husband booked the "Premium Nirvana room Ocean View" for our one week stay. The room overlooks the private Nirvana gardens (no kids or guests under 16 allowed, so less noise) as well as the clear blue waters of Mauritius. As part of the exclusive Nirvana wing of the hotel we also had access to the Nirvana Infinity pool and mini bar on the beach with free drinks daily.

For dinner we explored the four different restaurants at the resort which offered a variety of settings to suit our appetite. Our favourite restaurant was Cumin which offered an Indian buffet cuisine similar to our daily food we eat back home. Included in our holiday package was a free romantic dinner we chose to have it at the La Faya french fine dining restaurant on the beach. We also tried out the Shells restaurant which specialises in the local Mauritian type food and 180 Degrees which is a buffet with a different theme each evening.

Most of our time was spent relaxing at the beach and exploring our resort. We also went to the spa one afternoon for a couples massage and tried out the Jacuzzi as well the steam room which I had to step out of after ten minutes!

We took a day and went off the island to explore another nearby island called Ile Aux Cerf which is approximately ten minutes by speedboat. On the way to the island the boat stopped in the middle of the ocean at a floating raft where we went para-sailing over the beautiful ocean. Afterwards, we were dropped off at Ile Aux Cerf to explore the island, swim for a while and then enjoy a scrumptious lunch on the beach which consisted of grilled fish and chicken. The lunch on the beach was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my trip. After lunch the speedboat took us to see a nearby waterfall and then for a super fast ride back to the Mauritius island.

The hotel offers a wide range of activities which can be booked on arrival of your visit such as snorkeling, diving, swimming with the dolphins, windsurfing, water skiing etc. visit the resorts website for more details (www.lemeridian-mauritius.com).

The one day we arrived back at our room to discover that housekeeping had made swans out of towels and decorated our bed, I was so thrilled !!!

My honeymoon was amazing and after two weeks of pure bliss it was bleak to get back to reality but on the upside I now live with my wonderful husband and get to see him daily!

Our Honeymoon (Part 1)

Crystal Springs

We spent the first week of our honeymoon locally in South Africa at a mountain lodge in the Mpumalanga province called Crystal Springs.

We travelled for approximately 4-5 hours by car until we arrived high up in the mountain at the lodge.  We visited many waterwalls in the surrounding region and mostly relaxed after the overly exciting wedding event which drained our energy.

Our Wedding

On the 27th of April 2013 I decided to tie the knot

I met my wonderful husband when my family and I moved to a new house in a new area.  Co-incidentally, he also moved homes round about the same time. One day I was walking around my backyard and happened to glance over the wall. And there he was standing, glancing right back at me!  I felt curiosity build up inside me and it wasn't long before we officially met when he came over to my house for a neighbourhood braai hosted by my family.

We kept in touch as friends and became closer with time. Within the blink of an eye I found myself attached to him and realised that he was the one I would like to spend the rest of my life with.

Utter bliss from day one

Our smiles have only broadened since our wedding day
I feel like the luckiest girl ever because I did not even move off the block. I moved behind my parents house and so I still get to see my family as often as I like.
